Drowned Heart

It was just a tiny piece but it held so much hope

The withered and tattered last strand of a once strong rope

Last night it gave up it could take no more

What it held was released and now lays broken for evermore

Just a phone call and several words is all it took

Now I’m like a fish returned freed from the hook

I should be happy in a way that I’ve been given another chance

But I’m not, I’m sad and lost, and can’t see another romance

Will it ever be caught again? I didn’t think it ever would

But if it is I’ll give my all but it seems an unlikely hood

There’s nothing that can fix it, no tape, or glue to bond

So that’s where it will stay in the murky depths of the pond
