When we were young

When we first met I was living abroad

But on the dance floor in Nells I was overawed

I told you then we’d have kids and be married

But you spurned my advances and my love you parried

That first night when I came back to your friends

I’d cut my mouth on a barbed wire fence

I bled on her rug and pissed up her curtain

A bad impression I made that is for certain

But you decided to give me a chance anyway

And we became inseparable in every way

Remember how we laughed with not a care in the world

We worshipped each other and our hearts unfurled

When we first met it was all fireworks and glitter

Who would have thought you would end up so bitter

Our lives entwined and we became one

But it all went wrong and overshadowed our sun

I broke your heart and into the distance I hurled

I don’t know why I shattered our world

Wow Syd, the simple style betrays the pain throughout, a powerful piece to be sure.
It’s a terrible price we must pay to portray our reality in our poetry
    Wonderful my friend!

Thanks. Sadly it is my reality, as is a lot of my poetry and no doubt everybody else’s I’m sure! I think its good outlet to vent all these emotions and to help the healing process. Thanks for your kind words and for reading! 😀
